At the risk of sounding incredibly lame, I witnessed something so beautiful the other day. I have been having a hard time lately. I've felt alone, distant, and overall unhappy about 80% of the time. This day was particularly rough for whatever reason and when I came home to let the dogs out I was almost hit in the face by a little bird learning to fly. It was amazing to watch it flutter around on the lower branches and the momma bird sitting higher up the the tree chirping away. After I realized they wouldn't be going anywhere for a bit, I ran inside to get my camera to get a couple shots of him/her. It really perked up my mood.
My almost life long neighbors and people I consider a second set of parents renewed their wedding vows after being married for 25 years! If was rainy and dim and a little cold, but it was lovely. I've never seen either of them so happy. It was really beautiful and I'm happy they allowed me to do the photos for them.
I absolutely love urban exploration and abandoned buildings. There haven't been many good finds around my area, but there's one greenhouse that's been sitting for years. The last time I went was in 2008. Wow, I can't believe it's been four years. This is what is looked like then:
I went back today with a friend because he needed someone to tag along for a project he's doing for his class. It's a a lot more over-grown than it was back then. All of the glass has been removed from one of them, and I was really hoping that the cloth was still hanging from the ceiling, but alas that's been removed also. Other than those few things almost everything is the same as it was four years ago. Here's some photos I took there today:
With the sun shining through the glass, there's still something enchanting about it even though at the moment everything is sort of..dead. If you know of any other neat places in Salisbury, NC and the surrounding areas, let me know! I would love to have some more places to add to my list.
